Finding the perfect harmony between consumer and industry, Barometer 27-29 September 2019 in Kiev was another smashing success.

The well organized event by founder Andrey Skipyan and CEO Marina Karpachova was held at The Parkovy Convention and Exhibition Center, bringing 24 international pop up bars, 103 world expert speakers and many brands showcasing their latest products under a single roof. First hand, I witnessed how internationally recognized speakers such as Diego Ferrari of Matusalem Rum and Cocktail Art were given the white glove treatment, chaperoned by a dedicated member of the organization team from the airport, to the hotel, to the event location. That’s what hospitality should be like at every bar event!

Bar world opinion leaders such as Dima Shovkoplias, Matteo Luxardo, Vasilis Kyritsis, Philip Duff, Fulvio Piccinino, Peter Dorelli, and Bob Nolet participated in Barometer this year. Pop up bars within the convention center included 50 Best heavyweights Zuma (Dubai), Tipping Club (Singapore), The Clumsies (Athens), Le Syndicat (Paris), Red Frog (Lisbon) and Panda & Sons (Edinburgh).

Although many don’t think of Kiev as a cocktail destination, I was inspired by the ambition and friendliness of the local bar community. From the leading high-octane Parovoz and its swanky sister bar Beatnik, to the casual and fun Gimlet and raucous Hendrick’s, there’s something in Kiev for everyone.
