divine seafood restaurant :: overall 8/10 :: €60 for complete menu
Chef and Owner Nicola Colello's Mosto Selvatico is a seafood restaurant near Sant'Agostino. To commemorate his favorite time of year, Nicola chose the name "wild must" to evoke memories of the September wine harvest season. His Pugliese roots shine through in the dishes, where the emphasis is always on the taste and quality of the fish or crustacean. The sauces and accompaniments provide a subtle but exciting twist to the fresh seafood.
The best of the four antipasto dishes we tried were the Noci di Capesante Americane (Scallops) in a delicious and velvety red pepper sauce.
The first courses were delicious - fresh tagliolini pasta with prawns and a sea urchin sauce. The risotto dish was very interesting with red tuna on top and sea lettuce served on the side. The pungent sea lettuce provided a pleasant contrast to the lighter flavors of the classic risotto. However, I would have preferred the rice to be slightly more al dente.
The second course was the highlight of the meal: seared tuna with a poppy seed crust, served on a wonderful eggplant sauce. Pure elegance.
Although Mosto Selvatico is a bit pricey, I would happily return for its excellent and innovative seafood dishes. Thanks to Debora and Raffaele of Zomato for organizing this fantastic dinner. If you haven't tried Zomato, it's a great app perfect for people who love to eat and drink well. It combines the best features of Instagram, Foursquare and Facebook with a very clean and easy to use interface. My dream is that one day they will hire me so I can be paid to eat food! ;)
