If you happen to be in the beautiful Langhe hills of Piedmont, a must visit is the hilltop town of La Morra, an important region in the Barolo wine producing zone. One of the best spots in La Morra is the excellent trattoria/enoteca San Giorgio. In addition to making excellent locale cuisine (salumi, cheeses, tajarin, agnolotti e veal tartare), they offer many different wine bottles for sale. Impressively, they also have many great local wines (Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera) available by the glass. We tried a lovely Barbaresco from Neive, which paired well with our hearty dishes. The staff at San Giorgio are very welcoming, which adds to the magic of this lovely (and low-cost) trattoria. The owners also had us try some delcious raw sausage (not shown) from Bra, a town well known for making the best sausage in Piedmont.
