Toney

I first met Toney 8 years back when we shared an office together at Politecnico di Milano. Since then he's become one of my closest friends. 

When Toney came back to Milano after stints in Spain and England, I was ecstatic. The life of the party was finally back in my city. :) About a year back, Toney decided to up his photography game and bought a Nikon D750. Shortly thereafter we realized it would be awesome to team up for the blog. Since Toney has joined, the quality of photos has improved dramatically on questamiamilano. It's also been fun to cover events together like Aperitivi e Co, EXPO 2015, menu launches at Pinch and MAG, Whisky night at the Pub, and the various restaurant openings like Marghe and Sorbillo.

Baba Au Rum at 1930

Last weekend Elias Stergiopoulos of Baba Au Rum visited Milano to do a guest shift at 1930. In case you haven't heard of Baba Au Rum, they are a tiki bar from Athens, Greece and are currently in 40th place on the prestigious World's 50 Best Bars list. Elias' guest bartending was a great success, with 1930 being at full capacity all night. The 4 drinks Elias brought to Milano were awesome and below we highlight our favorites. Thanks to Benjamin for organizing the event and to the sponsors Ghilardi Selezion, DonQ, Mezan Rum and Doorly's for making this awesome night happen.

BABA AU RUM COCKTAIL Don Q Anejo, Fresh lime juice, Sugar syrup 1:1 by volume, Green Chartreuse, Fresh basil leaves, Salt solution, Gematria aromatic bitters

GUADELUPER TIKI PUNCH Mezan Jamaica, Doorly’s XO, Apricot Brandy, Champagne Bitter Truth Pimento liqueur, Pernod & Absinthe, Sugar syrup 1:1 by volume, Fresh lime juice, Fresh orange juice, Pineapple syrup, Angostura aromatic bitters, Cinnamon sticks, Star anise, Lime zest, Pineapple leaf, Pineapple

The other drinks included the tasty Rum in fashion (Mezan Jamaica, Mavrodafni reduction, Gematria aromatic bitters, Orange zest) and wonderful revisited Negroni, Buccaneer's negroni (La Hechicera rum, Campari, Carpano Antica Formula, Lime zest, Tonka Bean).
